ESTA creates guitar teaching qualification

The European String Teachers’ Association, in partnership with The University Of Chichester in Sussex, have developed a Post-graduate Certificate In Teaching for teachers of plucked strings. This newly-launched (January 2020) partly-on-line course is fully accredited to Masters level.

The course is intended for string teachers who want to enhance their professional development through a programme of study that is both academic and practical.

The qualification will be administered under the auspices of ESTA Education, a joint endeavour between ESTA and the University. ESTA Education simultaneously announced the appointment of Helen Sanderson as Head Of Learning & Teaching (Plucked Strings) whose job will be to lead the delivery of the new PGCT accreditation.

Helen is well known to many of us in the Guitar fraternity through her excellent educational work at The Royal Welsh College and The World Youth Guitar Festival, as well as her competition adjudication roles and international performance career.
